Awakening Home

Trailer

It was all a dream…until the awakening.

Descendants of a family that gained international notoriety in the 1850s for their storied escape from captivity on the Underground Railroad convene for the first time in five generations to reconcile the rich legacy they never knew.

In her debut film, Gayle George documents the journey “home” as a sacred pilgrimage to honor, acknowledge, and assemble the pieces of her ancestral story.

Special thanks to our cultural, fiscal and productions partners who have helped to bring the Awakening Home project this far.
